Push it through. That is the word from the Senate Majority Leader, the Speaker of the House and the President of the United States on Health Care.
The Democrats are rolling the dice that the economy will improve by November, and the people won't remember the fact that they rammed Health Care down their gullets.
This is a bad deal. Not allowing insurance companies to deny people for pre-existing conditions will be the bullet in the head of private health insurance. Plain and simple. Just as the auto insurance industry would fail if they were required to cover cars with pre-existing conditions. How would that work? Get in to an accident, get auto insurance and file a claim. Same thing with health insurance. Get sick, get health insurance. No reason to get insurance until some thing happens.
Another way to look at this bill is that for the first time in history, American Citizens will be REQUIRED by their government to purchase a product. Essentially what that means is that the government is putting a gun to your head and saying "Buy health insurance."
I don't see where in the Constitution it gives the Government the authority do do this. We will see how this falls out, but I am reasonably sure it will get through. It goes though and the republic's days are numbered. Our only hope at that point is that a law suit can get to SCOUS and they can strike it down, but I don't think that will happen before 2014 when the insurance coverage actually starts. Yup, that's right the Government will be collecting taxes for health care for 4 years before the first policy is even written.
