Eat Less, Exercise More, Do It Forever

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070126/us_nm/diet_exercise_dc;_ylt=Alao2jktYRgeiLWUlWnG7VEDW7oF;_ylu=X3oDMTBhZDhxNDFzBHNlYwNtZW5ld3M

Lots of stuff in there that debunks many myths of diet and exercise.

Such as:
  • A calorie is a calorie, you loose it by diet, or you use it by exercise. No one food or one diet will help you loose them faster. It is about intake and expenditure.
  • More muscular people do not burn more weight at rest than non muscular people
  • There is no such thing as “spot” training. Your body losses fat in a programmed way. Doing sit ups will build muscle on your abs, not reduce the fat from them.
  • Atrophy causes muscle loss, diet does not. Only in cases of extreme starvation does the body burn muscle for fuel.

I have not read the study yet, this is just a reporter’s interpretation of the study’s press kit. The above statements may or may not reflect the findings of the actual study.
