Religious Study

How many people actually read about the Council of Nicene? Know who Xenu is? Know what Kolab is? Know what the 12 Desires are? Know who the 4 Prophets are? Know what the Watchtower is? Know what Kami are? Know why Quakers quake? Know why the Vatican is its own state?

I was sitting around with some very educated people the other night, and was surprised about how little they knew about their own religions. Not one of them knew about the Council of Nicene, Emperor Constantine, or why Easter is not the same date every year.

Why is this? Some claimed to be very religious. How can you claim to be religious if you don't know what your religion is? How do you know that what you are doing is correct if you have not studied other religions to confirm your way is the best way? I don't get it. It doesn't take much time, you don't need to study much to find out the essence of a religion, or if it is right for you. Basic beliefs and practices are easily found. Getting in to the deeper theology takes the most time, and why would you do that unless you are sure you have the right path? All there chose their religious path because it was what their parents showed them.

It opens the most puzzling question about people and their religion... Normally rational questioning individuals become unthinking members of a mob when it comes to religion. Their brains just switch off. Why? Somebody tells you what to think and you think that way. If this was a political discussion they would immediately be questioning and rational. Call it religion, and "click" the robots are here.

Read. Think. KNOW why, and what you getting on bended knee before.

The Olympics USA Is Kicking Ass

Once the worlds winter sports bitch, now the USA is kicking all ass. About half way through and the U.S. is at the top of the medal count, however you count it. I typically count the medals like a track meet. Gold gets 3 points 2 for silver, and 1 for bronze. USA!! USA!!

On the side note, I think that the super effeminate Johnny Weir just might be straight. He is flamboyant, and absolutely walks like a duck and quacks like a duck. But his comments are that it is a "private" thing. Why keep it private when you are so obviously something?? When you are something ELSE!!! He is as straight as Magic Johnson.

Obama And Freedom

Bottom line... Obamba hates freedom. There is no other conclusion for his recent actions, policy decisions, and speaches.

We will set asside his assault on the free market, and business in general.

First the Supreme Court correctly declares large sections of the McCain/Finegold Campaign Finance bill unconstitutional. This was the correct move, because the First Amendment is very clear on speach. It makes no difference if it is an individual, a non profit group, a labor union, or a corporation, their speech, especially their political speach, is protected. The President said that he would "Strike back hard" at SCOUS. He then scolded them in his State of the Union address.

Next we have the administration coming out and saying that cell phone users have "No expectation of privacy." What? Are you kidding me? What part of "secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated" does this President not understand? Of course cell phone users have an expectation of privacy. Their rights to be secure are protected by the Fourth Amendment.

The guy hates freedom. More and more decisions are being taken away everyday. No checks, no balances.

Got To Get In To The Air!!

It has been over a year since I have had my hand on the throttle. The new move, the new job, and life in general have prevented me from getting in to the air... That is not true... If I wanted to I would have. I simply just have not made it a priority. I don't know why. I am starting to really itch for it. The problem is that I have lots of things going on this month. Trip to Australia, work, and the crappy weather are all going to prevent me from getting airborne. Not to mention the fact that it will take at least 2 to 4 hours of dual time just to get to the rental check ride. If I don't want to be driving 30 or more miles to get to a non-controlled airport, I am going to have to be flying out of Wiley Post airport. It is a multi runway tower controlled airport in northern OKC.

Wiley Post Airport

I have never operated out of a controlled airport. I have never been at a tower controlled airport longer than a touch and go. So, I have to learn a new airport while taking and repeating orders from ground control.
On top of all of this, I have not landed at a controlled airport since 1992... That will take some getting used to.

Anyway, I don't think I am going to get to the airport until March. I have to find a decent FBO, i.e. one with reasonable rental prices for good aircraft.
