Ash Wednesday

God doesn't care that you have dirt on your forehead, actually he does. There is a reason that acne shows up a few days after Ash Wednesday.
If you want to wear dirt on your head as a sign of your religous practices, don't get upset when I put up my 50 foot penis statue as a sign of mine.

God doesn't care what you eat, if he does he shows it in other ways, like throwing up, intestinal blockage, or death.

God doesn't care if you go to church today, yesterday, or any other day.

God doesn't care if, where, or what church I go to, today, yesterday, or any other day. So don't ask me when I am going, where I am going, or what denomination I am.

Remember that religion is a construct of man, not God, so going to church, eating habits, or dirt on your forehead was something that some uptight old zealot thought might be cool several thousand years ago. Yes, Christianity borrows heavily from many other older religions, so several thousand years not just a couple.

UFC 95 Recap

Great googaly moogaly!!! This UFC was full of what you want to see in a MMA competition, guys fighting to win. Guys took chances, some paid off some did not, but nearly all fought like their hair was on fire... All except the last fight, where two ground fighters played patty cake for 15 minutes.

Paul Kelly def Troy Mandaloniz Decision
My Pick: Troy by KO first round.
So I am wrong, what else is new??

Mike Ciesnolevicz def Neil Grove Submission (Heel Hook) 1:03 rnd 1
My Pick: Mike by KO second round
Mike took Neil's knee home with him. I tap out as soon as anybody gets their elbow around my heel in the cross position. It is just not worth it. You don't feel the submission coming, and then you are wondering if you will ever walk again.

If you get here tap like crazy so the guy will quit cranking!!

Evan Dunham def Per Eklund TKO (Punches) 2:13 rnd 1
My Pick: Per by decision.
Smash smash smash! Evan used excellent hip position to finish off Per after a crushing right hand put Per on the canvas.

Junior dos Santos def Stefan Struve TKO (Punches) 0:54 rnd 1
My Pick: Junior by whatever he wants, most likely a triangle choke in the first
I guess Junior wanted to smack the crap out of Stefan, cause that is what he did!

Terry Etim def Brian Cobb TKO (Head Kick and Punches) 0:10 rnd 2
My Pick: Terry by decision.
Terry looked awesome and finishes Brain in highlight reel fashion.

Paulo Thiago def Josh Koscheck TKO (Punches) 3:29 rnd 1
My Pick: Koscheck by G&P KO second round
The UFC may have thrown Paulo to the wolves, but they remembered something I forgot... All Brazilians are good fighters.
The stoppage may have been too early, but the outcome was already decided. I think that the ref should have let Paulo smash Josh a few more times, but that is just because I don't like him.

Demian Maia def Chael Sonnen Submission (Triangle Choke) 2:37 rnd 1
My Pick: Maia by armbar first round
Maia is a damn superhero.

How the hell do yo train to do that??

Nate Marquardt def Wilson Gouveia TKO (Knee and Punches) 3:10 rnd 3
My Pick: Nate by KO second round
Nate had an obvious size advantage on Wilson, and knew that Wilson could not hold out his punches forever. Wilson tired out and let a few through in the third and it was all over. Nate looked awesome, and his leg kicks shook the house!

Dan Hardy def Rory Markham KO (Punch) 1:09 rnd 1
My Pick: Rory by KO first round
Wow! Dan really had the home field advantage going for him here.

Diego Sanchez def Joe Stevenson Decision
My Pick: Diego by RNC second round.
Neither guy wanted to engage so they played patty cake for three rounds. Bad fight. I doubt Joe will be asked back to the UFC, and the only fight from Diego I am interested in is a rematch with Kenny Florian.

Great show!!! I go 6 of 10 keeping me above 0.500, but just barely better than the coin flip.

UFC 95 Everybody On Weight

Everybody is on weight for UFC 95!

Troy Mandaloniz (168) vs. Paul Kelly (169)
Troy by KO first round.

Neil Grove (263) vs. Mike Ciesnolevicz (235)
Mike by KO second round.

Per Eklund (155) vs. Evan Dunham (154)
Per by decision.

Junior dos Santos (237) vs. Stefan Struve (240)
Stefan is a ground guy in Europe making his debut in the UFC... Junior is a ground guy with the Nog brothers who knocked out Fabricio Werdum ...
Junior by whatever he wants, most likely a triangle choke in the first.

Terry Etim (156) vs. Brian Cobb (155)
We have been seeing a lot of Terry in the European UFCs, he has dropped a few decisions, but is a scrappy technical fighter.
Brian Cobb makes his debut out of... Really that's his team name? You are not putting me on? Seriously? Ok... out of Team Pain and Suffering. Natch.
Terry by decision.

Josh Koscheck (170) vs. Paulo Thiago (169)
Koscheck is coming off of a KO win over Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
Thiago is making his debut after going 10-0 in Brazil.
Wow. Paulo must either be the second coming of... nobody. He is just getting thrown to the wolves.
Koscheck by G&P KO second round.

Chael Sonnen (185) vs. Demian Maia (184)
Sonnen beat a shell of what used to be Paulo Filho by decision in his last fight.
Demian Mia destroyed Nate Quarry then choked him to win with a RNC.
Sonnen could barley hold on against what used to be Paulo Filho. Before that Sonnen was tapped by a Paulo Filho who could barley motivate himself to stand up between rounds. He has no chance against Maia, unless he brings a crowbar with him in to the ring, and since the fight is in England, land of soccer hooligans, that might just happen... Maia by armbar first round. Odds are currently 10 to 1 in Vegas that Maia just rips of Sonnen's arm and takes it home with him.

Nate Marquardt (185) vs. Wilson Gouveia (185)
Nate very surprisingly knocked out kickboxer Martin Kampmann in his last fight.
Wilson made Jason MacDonald tap to elbow after elbow in his last fight.
This makes for a great fight. Nate is awesome on the ground, and so is Wilson. BUT with Nate's newly found striking ability will he want to take the fight there? I say no. Nate by KO second round.

Dan Hardy (170) vs. Rory Markham (170)
Dan Hady beat Gono...
Rory knocks nearly everybody he meets out. It is difficult for him to make friends...
If this goes to the ground Hardy eats Rory alive. If it does not go to the ground Rory knocks Hardy in to next week. It won't go to the ground. Rory by KO first round.

Diego Sanchez (156) vs. Joe Stevenson (155)
Diego knocked out Luigi Fioravanti the last time out.
Joe lost his last fight by RNC to Kenny Florian.
Diego has the edge on Joe in almost every category. Joe is not very good on his feet, and can not match Diego's style on the ground. I don't see Joe surviving very long. Diego by RNC second round.

Barack Obama Is a Potty Mouth

Funny!!

Barack Obama is tired of your motherfucking shit

A Nation Of Cowards... Yep!

This is why...

Any dipshit with half a brain can understand that this cartoon is making fun of the police shooting Travis the Chimp, and inferring that the stimulus program, written by CONGRESS, could have been written my monkeys. It is a witty, funny cartoon.

Al Sharpton and a bunch of government educated idiots are out protesting saying that the cartoon is racist, implying that President Obama is a monkey.

Lesson in civics: The Legislative and Executive branches of government are different separate entities. The Executive branch can suggest that the Legislative write certain laws, but it can not introduce legislation on its own. What the Executive does is get a partner in the Legislative, usually someone in the same party of the Executive to introduce the bill in to one of the houses of congress. It is then debated, changed, and sometimes passed. Then somebody else needs to introduce the bill in to the OTHER house where it is debated changed, and sometimes passed.
Then a group of Senators and Representatives get together hash out the differences of the bill from both houses, come to some sort of agreement, then THAT bill goes before both houses for approval. If it is changed in anyway by either house the process starts over again until the very same bill is passed in both houses. Only then does it go to the Executive for final signing or veto.

In all that process, the President does not touch the bill until the end. The President does not draft legislation, he signs it. To believe that Obama wrote the stimulus bill is ignorance. Pure and simple.

Remember this cartoon?

Remember how we laughed at the Muslim's protests? What is different? Ignorance is ignorance, and it all comes from people who refuse to think.

Nation of Cowards? When stuff like this can cause this much of a shitstorm, you can bet your ass that this cartoonist will NEVER EVER draw another cartoon that can be thought of as racist. In fact, he probably won't draw anything funny ever again. Way to go Al.

Eric Holder Announces: Water Is Wet!!

Eric Holder said that the U.S. is a nation of cowards when it comes to racial issues.
Really? You are kidding, right? A nation of cowards? I wonder why that would be...
Miley Cyrus is being sued for $4 billion over a photograph of her stretching her eyes... by someone who claims to represent all Asian people in her city... who wasn't even in the photo.
Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson make very good livings coming around and destroying people and reputations for saying next to nothing.
Bill Cosby had his character assassinated after criticizing a group of people.
Bill O'Riley was crucified in the press after saying that eating in Harlem was an OK experience.

A nation of cowards?? You betcha! Nothing in this country is as bad as being called a racist. You can cheat, murder, rape, and pillage. All of it is more acceptable then being a racist. People are so afraid of saying or doing anything wrong in a mixed setting, that they choose to segregate themselves.

I know people that consider you a racist if you believe that you should only be able to enter the country by legal means.
I know people that consider you a racist if you use the word "boy" in any way when they are in earshot.
I know people that consider you a racist if you challenge their religious practices.
I know people that consider you a racist if you are NOT of a certain ethnic group and practice the religion of that ethnic group.
I know people that consider you a racist if you say that all people from one country are good fighters.

These people are not shy of screaming out their thoughts, and in this culture if you are accused of being a racist, it is the same as if you were caught wearing an I heart Hitler shirt while burning a cross, standing on the torah while urinating on the Qur’an, defecating on the Bhagavad Gita, spitting on a crucifix, and making slanty eyes.
With just an accusation you could be fired, sued, and outcast from society.

Most people don't want to play that game so they isolate themselves.

Until we get rid of the horrible practice of hyphenated Americanism, we will have this problem. Until the race pimps go away, we will have this problem. Until then I will isolate MYSELF from all people, except those I know for a fact are "safe." Those who take free thought and free speech to heart, and that are offended by action, and intent, not simple words. Those who dedicate themselves to the premise that you should never let your mouth write checks that your ass can't cash.

I abhor true racism. It means that you believe that a group of people should not enjoy freedom. I am a lover of freedom.

I, Eric Holder, say that Water is Wet!!

Reflections At A Tampa Brew Pub

I was in Tampa, FL last week, and I must say that the Tampa area is one of the best places on the face of the Earth. The sun set, and moon rise over the bay is just breathtaking. Just awesome.

One of the places I found in Tampa was the Tampa Bay Brewing Company. It is a very nice little brew pub near downtown Tampa.

One of the best features of the place was that they had a large outdoor bar area. Being from cold country, and with the weather beautiful, that is where I spent my time.

The very very best part about this place is that the brew master will set small batches of his work aside and ferment it in a traditional cask. This lets the beer naturally carbonate due to fermentation process. This takes a long time, and most places simply add fermentation artificially.
The cask ale has a very persistent head, and will seem a bit "flatter" than beer that is artificial carbonated. The beer and head will seem more like a stout.
Cask beers are very very rare. They take a long time to make, and they do not keep nearly as well as keg beers. They sour very quickly, so if they are not sold, they go to waste. Not good for a business where your margins are razor thin. In order to do a cask brew the brew master either has to love beer so much that they are willing to eat the cost of the waste, or have a very strong regular clientele that is willing to buy what is in the cask.

I am what is known as a "hop head." Meaning that I like beer that uses a lot of hops, and is therefor quite bitter. Bitterness is measured by "IBU." Normally the IBU scale runs from 1 to 100. A Budwiser is measured at about 6 IBUs.
It just so happened that the cask beer that was available when I was there was their very hopiest brew, the Old Elephant Foot IPA. It has an IBU of 80. This is very interesting as most people don't like hoppy beers, and having a cask brew of something so very very hoppy will only sell to the most hard core of hop heads.
I didn't care, I was in heaven.
So, I had the very best of all worlds. A super hoppy cask brew, an outside bar, 78 and sunny weather in February, with my friends and family enjoying a snow storm at home. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if the wife were there with me.

As I was sitting and sipping in my own shergala, I started noticing the people around me. I am a beer snob so take what I say with that in mind... I will make fun of you if you do certain things at the brew pub.

The first thing I noticed was the amount of people who walked up to the bar, and ordered a Budweiser or, even worse, a Bud Light. The bartender would politely say, they do not server Budweiser, they brew their own beer, and would be happy to pour them a complementary taster of their lightest beer. Out of the 5 (really!!) people that did this only one took a taste. That person did what most people do when they get a taste of their first real handcrafted beer. Their eyes lit up, a smile crossed their face, and the light of knowledge filled their soul. Another convert, praise be to Silenus!!

Seriously, if you go to Miller brewing do you order a Budweiser? Why do you do that at a brew pub???

As I sipped my hoppy glass of cask ale, glorying in its awesomeness, I caught a snatch of conversation. A man had ordered a cask ale. He was laughing with his friends saying that the foam just won't go away. I turned my head to see what was going on. The man was saying how he had never seen anything like it... He then did the most horrible thing he could have done, the equivalent of killing a baby while burning the flag, peeing on a crucifix, giving the Nazi salute, and spitting on a Jew. He took salt, and sprinkled it in to his cask ale to get rid of the head. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT DID YOU JUST DO???????????????????
He then complained to the waiter about how bitter his beer was, asking if it had been "skunked." You, sir, are a class A jackass. You have no idea what you just did, you arrogant asshole.

After that, I took my attention and moved it to the other patrons at the bar. They seemed to be beer lovers, and I tried to unsee what had been seen.

RESPECT BEER!!!!!!

The best beers in Tampa!!!

Are We Under Attack??

According to Bennie Thompson the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman, Chinese government and freelance hackers are to blame for most of the attacks on U.S. Government computers.
What is going on here? Are we attacking their computers too? Are they testing our security so that it can be exploited in front of a violent attack? Is Chinese security so bad that sophisticated hackers are simply originating their attacks from Chinese servers?

Usually, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and speaks Mandarin it is a Chinese duck looking to pull your electronic infrastructure down in preparation for an attack.
Don't freak out. Any prudent military would be working on similar tactics and maneuvers. We have plans to attack China. We have plans that detail defencive and offencive maneuvers if Poland invades Germany. Any prudent military would too.
BUT this constant probing is the same as if North Korea constantly shot at US troops... bad example. It is the same as if the Mexican government allowed its citizens to cross the U.S. Border unimpeded... bad example.
Anyway it is the same as a physical attack, and it is interesting to see that neither the Bush or the Obama administration are doing virtually nothing about it.

If your neighbor kept trying to break in to your house how many times would you let it happen before you did something about it?

Barack Obama = Genius

I missunderestimated President Obama. The guy is a damn genius. He said that his stimulus package would have NO EARMARKS! And he was absolutely right. There are no earmarks, the pork is written right in to the bill.

But that kind of semantic gymnastics is not why he is a genius. His genius comes from the question he was asked last night, something along the lines of, What about all of the pork in the bill Mr. President? His answer? It isn't pork, it is stimulus for local areas.

Holy crap. Why had no one else thought of that? You could write, and they have, anything you wanted in to the bill and call it "stimulus." Habitat for Polar Bears? Stimulus. Bridge to an island that the residents don't want and don't need? Stimulus. Water park for the small town where the swimming pool failed? Stimulus. It is political genius.

Bravo Mr. President. My hat is off to you. You handled this perfectly.

UFC Fight Night Lauzon vs Stephens Recap

As mind numbingly boring the last few UFC Pay Per Views have been, this event was AWESOME. No televised decisions, just KOs and submissions. Dramatic comebacks, overwhelming ground games and bone crunching stand up. Kick Ass.

Matt Riddle def Steve Bruno Decision
My Pick: Bruno by RNC second round.
Uh oh... Not this again...

Nick Catone def Derek Downey Submission (Keylock) 1:15 rnd 2
My Pick: Derek by KO second round
0-2 already???

Gleison Tibau def Rich Clementi Submission (Guillotine Choke) 4:35 rnd 1
My Pick: Gleison by decision
I would have guessed decision, or by KO, but Gleison by Guillotine Choke?? Never.

Matt Veach def Matt Grice TKO (Punches) 4:34 rnd 1
My Pick: I mean Veach by KO first round
YES!! Even though it was a very bad stoppage, I will still take the win!!
This was a great fight! Both guys were rocked at one point, and both guys did a great job of coming back.

Dan Miller def Jake Rosholt Submission (Guillotine Choke) 1:03 rnd 1
My Pick: Dan by RNC first round
Dan hit the best Guillotine Choke I have ever seen. He had no leg support at all it was all arm and body. Simply amazing!

Kurt Pellegrino def Robert Emerson Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) 3:14 rnd 2
My Pick: Kurt by triangle early second round.
No surprise.

Anthony Johnson def Luigi Fioravanti TKO (Punches) 4:39 rnd 1
My Pick: Anthony by KO first round
I get another home run!!
Anthony looked really strong in this fight. He still keeps his chin up a bit to high, but those kicks!

Josh Neer def Mac Danzig Submission (Triangle Choke) 3:36 rnd 2
My Pick: Mac by decision
Wow. Josh had no respect for any of what Mac had. Josh simply took it to Mac, overwhelmed him, beat the hell out of him, and finished Mac with the move that we got to see so often in Victory. Kick ass!!

Cain Velasquez def Denis Stojnic TKO (Punches) 2:34 rnd 2
My Pick: Cain... with a knock out and in the first round.
Not in the first round, but Cain looked very strong pounding on the hapless Stojnic.

Joe Lauzon def Jeremy Stephens Submission (Armbar) 4:43 rnd 2
My Pick: Joe by some sort of footlock second round.
Joe had a few attempts at footlocks, but could not finish. Joe put on an absolute BJJ clinic. From the first few moments when Joe pulled half guard and swept Jeremy, to the very end when Joe locked in the armbar, Joe was in absolute control the whole time. Joe owned everything about the fight on the ground. His only mistakes were his loss of position after his missed submission attempts.

I redeem my self with a solid 7 of 10, at one of the most entertaining UFCs in a long time.

Exactly What I Was Talking About

When I said that I hope.

Elwin Wilson was a racist. So much so that he took it upon himself to beat up those who challenged his view of the way the races should act.

John Lewis was a young civil rights leader. He was challenging Jim Crow.

The two met in 1961. Wilson was part of a gang (of course, many of these types are gutless morons who need the comfort of like minded others to commit their heinous acts) that was pestering Lewis and some others at a bus protest in South Carolina. The inevitable happened and Lewis was left severely beaten.

Fast forward. Lewis is now a Congressman from Georgia. He got another visit from Wilson. Wilson sincerely, and openly apologized for what he did to Lewis back in 1961. Lewis immediately accepted Wilson's apology and forgave him.

A man who once hung a black doll from a noose outside his house, realized the err of his ways and came forward and apologized to someone who he had wronged. A beautiful story.

People can change. Perhaps more will.

I hope.

UFC Fight Night Lauzon vs Stephens

Real fast, cause I am lazy...

Steve Bruno Vs. Matt Riddle (Welterweight)
ATT fighter Bruno choked out Johnny Rees in his last fight, and Arizona Combat Sports Fighter Riddle beat Dante Rivera by decision.
Riddle showed on TUF that he has trouble with submissions, and Bruno will do nothing but throw submissions at him. Bruno has shown that he does not like to get banged around, and Riddle will do nothing but bang him around. Interesting fight, but I think that Bruno will eventually get Matt on the mat and tap him. Bruno by RNC second round.

Nick Catone Vs. Derek Downey (Middleweight)
Nick is 5-0 coming in to his UFC debut.
Derek is 10-3 coming in to his UFC debut.
Derek has fought several TUF fighters loosing to Josh Burkman (Decision) and Ed Herman (KO), but beating Brandon Melendez twice (KO and RNC). Nick has not fought anyone so illustrious. Both are in their first UFC fight, but Derek has had more fights and better opposition. Derek by KO second round.

Gleison Tibau Vs. Rich Clementi (Lightweight)
Gleison has dropped two in a row getting choked by Joe Stevenson and loosing a decision to Tyson Griffin.
Rich Clementi had a six fight win streak going on until he lost his last fight, a decision, to Gray Maynard.
Rich is supposed to be known for his ground game, and Gleison is supposed to be known for his stand up. Both guys do very well in the areas they are not known for. Gleison tapped Terry Etim by arm triangle in his last win and Rich held his own standing with Sam Stout to beat him by decision. This is a tough fight to call, but I think that Gleison has more to loose. Gleison by decision.

Matt Grice Vs. Matt Veach (Lightweight)
Matt spoiled Jason Black's UFC hopes when he beat Black in his last fight way back in October of 2007.
Matt Veach, out of Matt Hughes and Robbie Lawler's HIT Squad, makes his debut with a perfect 10-0 record.
Hughes and Black are very good friends and training partners, so I am sure that Huges will have Veach ready for this fight. I really don't think that training will be an issue here, Veach has training partners that have been at the highest levels of the sport for years, and Grice knows what it takes to fight and win in the UFC. It will come down to jitters and experience. In this case I think that Veach will come out and blast Grice before Grice knows what hit him. Matt by KO first round ;) (I mean Veach by KO first round)

Dan Miller Vs. Jake Rosholt (Middleweight)
Miller is 2-0 in the UFC, but has not really fought anybody of note. He choked Rob Kimmions, then won a decision over Matt Horwich.
Jake is an import from the WEC and won his last fight there by KO over Nissen Osterneck.
Miller is on a win streak and Rosholt is there to prove that he belongs. Fun fight!
Rosholt is a guy who knocks people out and Miller likes to tap people. Both have fought good guys, but neither has fought great guys. Miller will be at home in the UFC, having fought there twice, and in the IFL before that. Rosholt will most likely feel out of place in front of the largest crowd he has ever entertained. I think that Jake will make a mistake and Dan will catch him. Dan by RNC first round.

Kurt Pellegrino Vs. Rob Emerson (Lightweight)
Kurt decisioned Thiago Tavares in his last fight in the UFC. Not an easy thing to do.
Emerson is on a six fight win streak with the last being a KO victory over Manny Gamburyan.
Emerson does not want to tangle with Batman on the ground. Of Kurt's 12 wins 8 are by submission. With Emerson's new found power, Kurt will want to limit the time they are standing. You don't just knock out Manvil the Anvil and not earn some respect. In the end, I think that Kurt gets Emerson on the ground and puts on a clinic. Kurt by triangle early second round.

Luigi Fioravanti Vs. Anthony Johnson (Welterweight)
Luigi beat Brodie Farber by decision in his last fight.
Anthony kicked Kevin Burns' head right off in his last fight.
Both of these guys are known as stand up fighters, but I think that Anthony has the clear advantage. Anthony by KO first round.

Mac Danzig Vs. Josh Neer (Lightweight)
Danzig struggled in his last fight loosing a decision to Clay Guida. Clay simply out worked him.
Neer lost his last fight by split decision to Nate Diaz, but looked so sharp doing it, that his stock went up. Nate was supposed to steamroll Josh, but Josh proved hard to steamroll.
This has all of the makings of a great fight. Danzig likes to mix it up, both stand up and ground work. That works well with Neer's eclectic style. I think that Josh will be tougher than Mac thinks on the ground, and more than Mac can deal with on the feet. Remember that Neer is the guy that took it straight to Joe Stevenson on the ground and beat him by decision. I don't think that Mac will finish Neer, but I do believe that Mac's ground game is just a bit more technical, and a bit faster than Josh's. I hate to pick against him, but Mac by decision.

Cain Velasquez Vs. Denis Stojnic (Heavyweight)
Cain knocked Jake O'Brien in to last week in his last fight. Come to think of it, he has knocked all of his four opponents in to last week. Cain has heavy accurate hands.
Denis is an import from the Baltics. He trains out of Golden Glory and touts himself as a kickboxer. This is his first fight in the UFC.
Wow... Unless Denis is the second coming of Fedor, I really think that this one is going to end quick. It is very likely, looking at Denis' record that he has never faced anybody with Cain's power and accuracy. This one ends just like all of Cain's fights, with a knock out and in the first round.

Joe Lauzon Vs. Jeremy Stephens
Joe came back in great fashion knocking out Kyle Bradley in his last fight. A good win after getting knocked out by Kenny Florian in the "Battle of Boston."
Jeremy steps in on short notice for an injured Hermies Franca to take on Joe. Jeremy knocked out Rafael dos Anjos in his last fight.
Jeremy is the polar opposite from Hermies. Hermies is sloppy standing up and very technical on the ground. Jeremy is technical standing up and sloppy on the ground. To his credit, Jeremy did knock out Cole Miller, a guy who gave Joe a hard time during his TUF tour of duty. BUT Jeremy's ground game is not what it should be, his two losses coming by submission (Din Thomas armbared him and Chris Mickle caught him with a RNC). Joe can use this, as his real skill is in his ground game. Joe by some sort of footlock second round.

Wat??

Cap On Executive Wages

Well Obama capped wages on business that that accept bail out money. Bad move. Very bad move.

Say I am a brilliant business guy... suspend your sense of disbelief for a moment, OK?

So, I am a brilliant business guy. Lots of companies want me to work for them. I can command a high salary, because I am worth it. Because I am so brilliant I can lead one of the bailed out companies out of the woods, BUT I have two job offers. One from a company that will pay me 1.5 million plus another 2 million in bonus if I do a good job. The bailed out company can only pay me $500K, and will take more effort on my part to get the job done. Which one do you think I would choose to work for? Which one would you choose to work for?

The simple truth is that President Obama has just limited the already failed, bailed out business ability to resurrect themselves. Why? Because he thinks executives make too much money. Check that... As he is now the President, it is THE GOVERNMENT interfering in a private contract between two private parties... I think I read something somewhere that said that the state could not do that... I have to think hard... HUMMMMMMMMM... Where the heck was that... Oh yeah!!
The Fifth Amendment, not just for testifying against yourself!
No person shall be ... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law

But wait there's MORE!! It is said AGAIN in the Fourteenth Amendment:
nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law

So we have the State saying that a person can only make a specific amount of money, and no more. Sounds a lot like depriving a person of property does it not?

Obama and Tax Cheats

What is the deal with Obama and tax cheats??
Pick a cheat Once

Tim Gethner newly sworn in Secretary of the Treasury.

Shame on you.
Pick a cheat Twice

Nancy Killefer nominated for Chief Performance Officer, and tax cheat.

Shame on me.
Pick a cheat Three times????

Senator Tom Daschle nominated head of Health and Human Services, and tax cheat.

WTF? Something is up with the vetting process, or the top guy just doesn't care...

Super Bowl Lip Syncing

Faith Hill and Jenifer Hudson looked great "singing" their respective songs at the Super Bowl. But they weren't singing, they were lip syncing.

What the hell?

Pre-game show producer Rickey Minor said about lip syncing: That's the right way to do it. There's too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance."

The hell? Why don't we just let the players go through the motions of the game and let all of the Super Bowls end in a tie? That way no glitches will ruin any of the player's performances.

These are professional entertainers, why are they lip syncing? As a nation we made fun of the Chinese during the Olympic opening ceremonies because they subsisted a "cute" little girl in for the little girl who actually sang. Yet here we are during the largest televised event in the world, lip syncing our National Anthem.

Well, you say, if they screw up it could ruin their careers. Tough. No guts no glory. No risk no reward. Whitney Houston did it live, and that is considered the gold standard for Anthems. Why was it so kick ass? She was able to use the crowd, her feelings at the time, and the mood of the entire country at the time (it was during the first Gulf War) to put forth the best live performance of the Anthem of all time. That simply can not be done in a studio.
If a physician screws up somebody dies. If I screw up, I get fired. These are multi-million dollar earning singers.

It is a big deal to be in front of the Super Bowl audience and sing. Not everybody who watches the Super Bowl will watch the half time show, but nearly everybody will watch the National Anthem. Man up and earn your pay. Don't fake it.

UFC 92 Recap

I just woke up from the coma that UFC 92 put me in to. 10 fights 5 split decisions, and 3 unanimous decisions, only two KOs. No submissions. So boring that it makes me want to never watch a UFC again. Dreams of UFC 33 boring.

Dan Cramer Matt def Arroyo Decision (Split)
My Pick: Matt by KO first round
The blood letting begins.

Jake O'Brien def Christian Wellisch Decision (Split)
My Pick: Christian by RNC second round.
0-2

John Howard def Chris Wilson Decision (Split)
My Pick: Wilson by RNC first round
0-3

Thiago Tavares def Manny Gamburyan Decision (Unanimous)
My Pick: Manny by decision
0-4

Jon Fitch def Akihiro Gono Decision
My Pick: Fitch by KO second round
Jon does well and dominates Gono. That should put Jon back on track, and may send Gono back to the Japanese shows...
1-4

Clay Guida def Nathan Diaz Decision (Split)
My Pick: Nate by third round KO
Clay did a great job of tying Nate up and nullifying Nate's boxing advantage. Very good job by Guida.
1-5

Karo Parisyan def Dong Hyun Kim Decision (Split)
My Pick: Kim by decision
Very nice Judo, but little other action.
1-6

Jon Jones def Stephan Bonnar Decision
My Pick: Stephan by Triangle Choke first round
Jon wins by UFC judges being in love with the takedown.
1-7

Lyoto Machida def Thiago Silva KO (Punches) 4:59 rnd 1
My Pick: Silva by KO by strikes on the ground second round
Machida seals the deal very late in the first round. The karate train keeps rolling.
1-8

Georges St. Pierre B.J. Penn TKO (Corner Stoppage) 5:00 rnd 4
My Pick: BJ by KO third round
GSP beat the holly hell out of BJ. That is all there is to say about that. The corner made the right choice. I would have done the same thing had I been in BJ's corner.

I do a horrible job picking the fights this time. 1-9. Ouch.
